Team Plan

During the course of this grant, it was found that the implementation of a team plan time for teacher participants directly correlates with teacher and student success.  Grant teachers, along with the school MyCat, sit down together during plan time at least once a month to reflect, discuss, prepare, evaluate and learn.  Using the lesson reflection checklist, teachers discuss recently taught lessons offering suggestions and adjustments for future use. Often times, teachers plan future lessons sharing ideas and lesson preparation tasks. The teachers also use team plan time to evaluate student math assessments using the technique of error patterning. These assessments, given three times a year, are based on the state standards and help teachers determine their students' strengths and weaknesses. The assessments are developed and graded by an outside evaluator and are then returned to the teachers.  Working together the results help the group form instructional strategies that will give students the experiences necessary to become successful in math by understanding math concepts.

Finally, teachers use this time to expand their own knowledge base, exploring best practice instructional techniques and technology integration ideas.
