First Steps

Initially iCATS identified a need to “level the technology playing field” in each 4th and 5th grade classroom. We wanted to be sure that each school had a computer connected via scan converter to a TV monitor, had Inspiration and Graph Master in addition to Microsoft Office, and that each 4th and 5th grade team had exclusive access to a digital still camera and a digital video camera.

In addition each teacher got a copy of Kay Tolliver's Hands-On Math Resources and copies of Graph Master and Inspiration. Workshops were held the first year to ensure that all teachers had a working knowledge of all the equipment and software that was available to them.
