Mike Russ is Director of Technology for the EVSC, a position he has held
since July 1990. He is a native of Evansville, having graduated from Harrison
High School and the University of Evansville (BA and MA). He also has
post-Masters credit from the University of Akron and the American University
of Cairo. After teaching social studies for two years at North Posey,
Mike came to the EVSC in 1971 where he spent 13 years teaching social
studies to 6th, 7th and 8th graders at Washington (then) Elementary School.
In 1984, Mike came to the Administration Building as a Computer Contact
Teacher, a position he held until becoming the first Director of Technology.
In addition to the above-mentioned
teaching and coordinating duties, Mike also taught summer high school and
evening school. He received fellowships to travel and study in Egypt (1974),
Japan (1981) and Greece (1982). He has served in various committee and office
positions with the Indiana Council for the Social Studies and the National
Council for the Social Studies. After moving into the technology arena,
Mike served on the board and as President and Treasurer of the Indiana Computer
Educators and still serves on the ICE Conference Committee. He is also a
member of the International Society for Technology in Education and has
done presentations at their national conference - the National Education
Computing Conference. |
